thoughtful thursday.

as soon as i saw this, i immediately heard,
"be still."

psalm 46:10 says,
"be still and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world."

be still and know that i am God.
how are you supposed to be still when you're always planning for the next step?
always looking forward to tomorrow's endeavors?
always seeking something greater than what you already have in front of you?
and notice He did not say, "try to be still and know...,"
or "be still and wonder if i am..."
but know.
know that He is God.
know that He is in control.
know that no matter what steps you try to take to manipulate the situation,
you are ultimately placing doubt on Him.
you can't be still if you are constantly fretting over deadlines or missed opportunities.
you can't be still if you are wallowing in self-pity or frustration.
you can't "be still" unless you know that He is God.
knowing that He is God should instill peace in your heart.
it is recognizing that He is in control, and that His grace and mercy are enough.
by not being still,
you are telling Him that His ways aren't good enough.
and that you just can't be patient enough for what He has in store for you.
instead of racing to the next moment,
what if you sat still?
what if you took in every ounce of what was around you to focus on
the many blessings He has given you?
would you go stir crazy?
probably not.
in fact,
the very moment you start to place your focus on Him,
everything else starts to fall into place.
He will never let you down.
He is incapable of breaking promises and plans.
(who else can promise that?)
He stays true, and He wants you to glorify Him in every single situation.
you are not lacking anything in your current situation.
have you ever heard the saying, "God will not give you more than you can handle."?
well, it's true.
He knows exactly what you've got going on.
and that Guy knows more about your heart and your tolerance than you do.

1 corinthians 10:31 says,
"so whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

this says glorify Him always!
take advantage of every opportunity in front of you and share His love with a stranger!
live love out loud & sit back and enjoy the ride.
