thoughtful thursday.

it's so difficult to refrain from comparing ourselves to others.
she has a cute house, i wanna be her.
she has a cute husband, i wanna be her more.
she has an adorable little baby, i wanna be her times three.
she has a great job, great smile, great attitude, great life.
everything is peachy keen.

what we don't know,
is maybe everything isn't so peachy.
maybe her cute house has an ugly leak inside.
maybe her cute husband is unsure about their marriage.
maybe her cute baby took years to conceive.
and maybe her job, her smile, her attitude, and her life,
are all to cover up what she tries to hide.

the truth is,
God designed each of us to be unique.
we serve a purpose differently than the next girl.
and when we start desiring what that cute girl has,
we stop focusing on what we have to be grateful for.
and let's face it,
it's probably an immense amount.

God is so faithful,
and has a specific plan for each and every one of us.
and that plan might not include some, or any
of the things that the cute girl has.
but He is still sovereign over all.
and He will give us all the desires of our heart.

so the next time you start envying that cute girl,
remember that she is imperfect too.
she has flaws.
she has doubts.
she might feel unloved.
and her cute little world could probably use some prayer.

"the Lord does not look at the things people look at.  People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." - 1 Samuel 16:7
